HIRING: Processing Coordinator

Position Filled

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Re-ordering material commodities as required for processing
  • Inputting all materials into processing system
  • Monitoring inventory levels of all material input supplies
  • Prepare Processing Plan for Processing Team/LOP
  • Schedule and lead weekly Processing meetings with Processing Team/LOP
  • Completing work orders received from Logistics/Operations Planner into processing orders
  • Schedule seed to be processed, treated and packaged within requested timeline of the Logistics/Operations Planner
  • Communicate scheduled completion date with Processing Team/LOP
  • Assist Production Team with applications and mapping
  • Assist Warehouse Team with returns, warehouse organization and year-end inventory counts
  • Complete Year-End inventory counts on all materials

Qualifications:

  • Administrative background and experiences
  • Computer knowledge
  • Agriculture knowledge is an asset, but not required

HIRING: Research Technician

Roles and Responsibilities

Field Work

  • Operate machinery for the tasks of; plant, spray, fertilize, and harvest all in-house research yield and nursery trials
  • Work with the nursery pollination team to complete pollination tasks
  • Collect research data in the yield and nursery trials
  • Maintain and service research equipment

Supervisory

  • There will be limited supervisory roles but certain day to day tasks the candidate might be leading a small crew of colleagues. These tasks include but are not limited to thinning, nursery pollinations, hand harvest etc.

Lab Work/Winter Work

  • Perform tasks to prepare for the next planting season. This includes shelling the hand harvested plots using the shelling equipment and counting seed for planting the plots.

Qualifications/ Education

  • Diploma in Agriculture OR BSc in Agriculture

HIRING: Warehouse Supervisor

We are excited to announce an opening for the position of Warehouse Supervisor in our family-owned company! As a Warehouse Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our warehouse, ensuring that all products are handled efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all products are received, stored, and shipped in a timely and accurate manner
  • Implement and maintain inventory control procedures
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
  • Report & communicate between processing, production and operations departments

Requirements:

  • Customer focus; attention to detail
  • Prior experience in a supervisory role in a warehouse or logistics environment, preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 60lbs
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities

  • Forklift license, preferred

Summer Employment

Horizon Seeds Dealers

Horizon Seeds Canada Inc. is hiring summer students (15yrs – 18yrs) to work detasselling and derogueing this summer in the production fields. Also, we have an opportunity for 4 positions in a supervisory role (18yrs+), this is leading, transporting and managing the student crews. A valid driver’s licence is required and past detasselling or derogueing experience is an asset. These positions will be approximately four weeks starting July 10th and ending August 10th, weather depending. Duties include:

  • Working in field crews detasselling corn plants
  • Working in field crews derogueing corn plants
  • Final inspections and field clean up behind large crews

Work hours will be 7am to mid afternoon Monday to Sunday.

Horizon Seeds Summer Pollination:

Horizon Seeds Canada Inc. is looking for individuals to assist with pollination tasks in the research nursery. The position will be approximately three to four weeks starting July 5th and ending August 7th, weather depending. Duties include:

•             Shoot bagging ear shoots.

•             Setting up tassel bags

•             Performing the pollination by moving tassel bag to ear shoot

•             Assist in nursery weeding

Work hours will be 8 to 3:30 Monday to Saturday with the possibility of longer days during peak pollinating time.
